Study Skill 8.7 Using Feedback

Introduction

USING FEEDBACK — QUIZZES & EXAMS

Upon completing a quiz, review your answers using the following CAMP code to diagnose your errors:

  • Conceptual- I didn’t understand the concept that the question was asking.
  • Anticipation- I saw a term and rushed ahead without fully reading the question
  • Misread- I misunderstood the question and what it was asking.
  • Preparation- I wasn’t ready for the quiz.

In addition, the introduction module of each course on Canvas has a downloadable ‘Student Guide to Feedback´ which shows you how to see feedback on exams.

USING MIZZOU TEACHER FEEDBACK — ASSIGNMENTS

You’ll receive constructive feedback for each assignment you submit. This feedback can include a written paragraph, comments on each aspect of the rubric as well as feedback on the assignment document itself. The feedback can be used to revise your work and help you improve for future assignments.

Key Ideas

  • Feedback from teachers and graders is crucial to your learning journey as it can help you self-evaluate.

Apply

  • Review the last quizzes you completed. Jot down a quick CAMP table and categorize your errors. What types of errors do you tend to make?
  • Look at the feedback for the last exam you took. With the Table of Contents open at the front of the book, put a tally mark next to each section where you missed a question. Which section(s) do you need to look at again? What do you find tricky about the section(s)?
  • Look at the last assignment you had graded. What did you do well at that you could repeat next time? What suggestions has the teacher they made? Look for comments that start with, “Consider”, “Give”, “Expand”, “You could”, “Try”, “Put”. Write them down. What do you need to work on? Develop an action plan along with your classroom teacher.
  • Look at the last three assignments you submitted across different courses. Identify the top two areas to work on. Is there a pattern developing?
