Introduction
We all have goals and desires or things we want to achieve. Do you ever find yourself frustrated or disappointed when you don’t feel you are reaching your goals or reaching them fast enough? SMART goal setting can help! Don’t be afraid to STRETCH! Dream big, lofty dreams, but then act small, breaking down these long term “dream” goals into manageable and actionable SMART goals that will get you there!
For this assignment, you will set a goal using the SMART goal template.
Your submission will only be graded ONCE. If you score low, you cannot resubmit the assignment to get a better score. Please make sure to submit the correct file. Remember to edit and revise your writing before you submit it. Send a Canvas message to the lead teacher of this course if you have any questions before you submit your work.

Step 1
First, make sure you have watched the videos in the previous section about how to write a SMART goal plan. If not, you can review the videos on this page: 1.4 Making a Plan
Step 2
Choose a goal. It can be any goal you want to attain in life, but you must follow the SMART plan.
Step 3
Download the SMART Goal Template. Answer each question. Write in complete sentences and work through the writing process to submit a SMART plan that is free from mechanical errors.
Assignment Standards for Success
- Complete and submit the SMART goal template
- Each question on the template includes a response that is thoughtful, clearly described with depth of explanation, and personally meaningful to you
- Provide a rationale for how the content applies meets the criteria for each step of the SMART process
- Save the SMART goal template and submit it for your grade.

There should be clear tasks or actions you can take to make progress toward a goal. Think about the steps you need to take to reach your goal or the bricks you will need in your pyramid to create a strong foundation and reach the pinnacle. Is it within your power to attain this goal? This is where obstacles may have an effect. You clearly explain how you will accomplish this goal and get the resources you need. What steps will you take to reach your goal? What resources do you need to help you overcome obstacles and reach your goal? Resources are people, organizations, or things that will help you to reach your goal. For example, when I wanted to become a high school English teacher, my resources included a mentor teacher who would model good teaching practices. Another resource was the National Teachers' Organization which helped me learn about national and state laws regarding teaching. |
