my name is Luis fonan I am the CEO and
co-founder of dualingo about 5 years ago
I wanted to work on something that was
related to education a lot of people
talk about education as something that
brings equality to different social
classes but I always saw it as the
opposite something that brings
inequality because what happens is that
people who have a lot of money can buy
themselves the best education in the
world whereas people who don't have very
much money barely learn how to read and
write particularly in developing
countries so what we wanted to do was
something that would give equal access
to education to everybody if you learn
English in a non-english speaking
country your job prospects increase by a
lot you can make between 25 and 100%
higher salary by just knowing English we
launched it uh 5 years ago and now du
lingo is the most popular way to learn
languages in the world there are more
people learning languages on dualingo in
the US than there are people learning
languages in the whole US public school
system dualing is used by famous
Hollywood actors or the richest men in
the world and people going to public
schools in develop in countries I think
that communicating is you know the basis
of our society being able to communicate
um I think can bring World Peace
hopefully we're going to have a world
where everybody can speak each other's
languages that would be amazing
