Welcome
We are pleased that you selected this course to fulfill your unique educational needs. You are now a member of the Mizzou Academy's global student body.
Although the freedom to choose when and where to study is a privilege, it is also a responsibility that requires motivation and self-discipline. To succeed at learning, you will need to develop a study plan by setting realistic goals and working toward them.
Course Description
In this course, you will learn what constitutes a computer, the uses and applications of computers, and the impact of computers on society. Skills and knowledge in digital citizenship, along with safe and responsible practices in online computing and social media environments, are developed.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the importance of digital citizenship in relation to access, copyright, safe usage, and productivity applications.
- Examine how technology can affect one's health and wellness.
- Demonstrate effective usage of technology to develop a digital story.
Pacing
This course can be completed in as few as six weeks or take up to 6 months (180 calendar days). The six weeks are counted from the date of the first lesson submission and not the date of enrollment.
Required Materials
There are no required books. However, the student will need a consistent internet connection that allows access to a wide array of online tools and websites.

Additional requirements for the course are below:
- You will also need a webcam or other audio and/or video recording device.
- You will need the ability to install items or software onto your device.
- You will need access to YouTube as some useful materials reside on that site.
- You have the option of using Google Drive for all the assignments. If necessary, due to country-by-country restrictions, students are permitted to find an equivalent document-sharing service as approved by the instructor.

Exams
You are required to take 2 proctored exams for this course. The Midterm Exam is one multiple-choice exam. The Final Exam will be in two parts. The first part is a multiple-choice exam. The second part is a project that will need to be completed and turned in.

Grades
Your final grade will be based on the number of points you earn on quizzes, assignments and exams.
The following grading scale applies:

| A | 90–100 |
| B | 80–89 |
| C | 70–79 |
| D | 60–69 |
| F | 0–59 |
After completing the course, you will receive a grade report that gives your percentage and your letter grade for the course.
