Course Overview

Marketing is the process involved in selling something--a product, a service, even an idea.  This course explains the processes, procedures, strategies, and tactics utilized in performing marketing functions. Topics include an introduction to marketing functions and marketing concepts, interpersonal and communication skills, salesmanship, and marketing careers.  In this course, you will apply the basic concepts of marketing to develop video and print advertising and create a marketing plan that could be presented to an audience.  

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate the ability to:

  • Explain the marketing concepts, strategies, and systems used to obtain and convey ideas and information.
  • Utilize tools and strategies to disseminate information about products.
  • Conduct research and evaluate information to make informed decisions about marketing.  

Pacing

This course can be completed in as few as six weeks or take up to 6 months (180 calendar days). The six weeks are counted from the date of the first lesson submission and not the date of enrollment.

Required Materials

No outside textbook is required for this course. Speakers or a pair of headphones (headphones preferred) would be beneficial for reviewing videos.

Exams

You are required to take 2 proctored exams for this course.  Each exam will contain multiple-choice questions. There are two writing prompts that are part of the examination category. However, the writing prompts will be submitted separately, and are not part of the proctored time.

Grades

Your final grade will be based on the number of points you earn on assignments and exams. The available points are distributed as follows:
