Course Syllabus
Course Overview
The 6th Grade Physical Education program is designed to promote lifelong fitness, teamwork, and healthy living through a variety of fun and engaging activities. Students will be exposed to team sports, individual challenges, and fitness training that build strength, coordination, and endurance. Emphasis will be placed on developing fundamental motor skills, learning the rules and strategies of different sports, and understanding the importance of physical activity for overall wellness. There are fitness activities required in each lesson (known as STUDY BREAKS) but they are designed to be modifiable according to your current level of fitness. We're excited that you chose this course to meet your unique learning needs. By joining, you become part of Mizzou Academy's global community of students from all around the world. Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will:
- develop an understanding of how physical education benefits the body.
- experience why flexibility is important and essential for movement.
- connect cardiovascular endurance to maintaining a healthy body composition.
- differentiate between muscular strength and endurance.
- identify basic components of nutrition and what makes up a balanced diet.
- formulate a basic understanding of organized sports (e.g., football, lacrosse, and baseball).
Pacing
You can finish this course in as little as six weeks or take up to six months (180 days). The six weeks start counting from the day you submit your first lesson, not from when you enroll. To stay on track, try setting a regular study schedule, breaking the work into smaller parts, and asking your instructors or classmates for help when you need it. You have the freedom to work at your own pace within the 180-day period, so plan your time wisely to reach your goals. Required Materials
There are no required materials for this course, but you should have appropriate footwear and clothing that are made for exercise. If you choose to exercise outdoors, a sunscreen for the protectection your skin is recommended.

Assignments, Quizzes, & Exams
You can find all the assignments you need to complete for this course at the bottom of this syllabus or by looking in the course modules. Each lesson builds on the one before it and prepares you for what’s next, so it’s important to follow the order—start with Lesson 1, then Lesson 2, and keep going in order. Make sure to read each lesson carefully, watch the videos, explore the resources, and take part in the activities before you submit any assignments, quizzes, or exams. If you have any questions, your instructors are always here and happy to help!

Grades
Your final grade will be based on the number of points you earn on submitted work and exams. The available points are distributed as follows:
